The Ark
☆☆☆☆☆
First song heard: Rock City Wankers
Important/Favorite song: All, especially b-sides like
Cracked Messiah
Seen live? y [:)] n [ ]
Other: Well, The Ark is an awesome live band. Ola Salo is somewhat insane, but that's only a good thing.
I adore his lyrics (specially older stuff) and this music just has the twist. And I have to say that Ola's voice is my ideal of male one.
As a complete different topic, my mother would have named me Ola if I would have turned to be a boy. :D
Blonde Redhead
☆☆
First song heard: Elephant Woman
Important/Favorite song: Elephant Woman
Seen live? y [ ] n [:(]
Other: Dream-like and pretty strange.
David Bowie
☆☆☆☆
First song heard: ???
Important/Favorite song: Life On Mars?,
Quicksand
Seen live? y [ ] n [:(]
Other: I'm more keen to older material currently, but I respect Bowie as an artist whole-heartedly. He has very unique and comprehensive style. Can't help but love a little.
The Crash
☆☆☆☆☆
First song heard: Sugared
Important/Favorite song: first three albums
Seen live? y [:)] n [ ]
Other: The Crash has been one of my favorite bands since elementary school, so
all of their songs have became familiar to me... but still I haven't got bored. It's like coming back to
home when I hear Teemu's voice. :D For some reason, I feel that the many of the songs are about my life and myself.
The Dresden Dolls
☆☆☆☆
First song heard: Dirty Business
Important/Favorite song: Gravity,
Delilah,
Karma Police
Seen live? y [ ] n [:(]
Other: One kick-ass punk cabaret band. I hope to see Amanda and Brian live one day.
Franz Ferdinand
☆☆
First song heard: Take Me Out
Important/Favorite song: Eleanor Put Your Boots Back On
Seen live? y [ ] n [:(]
Other: I listen to this band by seasons.
Gorillaz
☆☆☆☆
First song heard: Clint Eastwood
Important/Favorite song: album
Demon Days
Seen live? y [ ] n [:(]
Other: I've digged Gorillaz since they come up, but bought an album from them just recently. The whole idea of an animated band is very appealing - you get to make much more interesting history for them! As it comes to music, it's great and fits my urban moods. Noodle's awesome. :)
Ismo Alanko
☆☆☆
First song heard: ???
Important/Favorite song: Hämärämies
Seen live? y [:)] n [ ]
Other: Ismo Alanko is a genius when it comes to lyrics, sometimes they hit
really hard.
Kent
☆☆☆☆
First song heard: ???
Important/Favorite song: albums
Vapen & Ammunition,
Tillbaka Till Samtiden and
Hagnesta Hill
Seen live? y [:)] n [ ]
Other: I came to listen to this band when my Swedish teacher played their songs during class. How nerdy.
But I can't help it, some of their songs are just super good. They are so wicked.
Mew
☆☆
First song heard: 156
Important/Favorite song: Killer
Seen live? y [:)] n [ ]
Other: I saw these guys at Ruisrock '06, they were the last band performing. As their last song
they played an awesome 9-minute-piece
Comforting Sounds, and they played it still when me and my friend
were leaving the festival area and then the festival crew started shooting fireworks over the Baltic Sea to the midnight sky.
One of the best memories I have. :D
Muse
☆☆☆☆☆
First song heard: The Small Print
Important/Favorite song: all but 40% of
Showbiz album
Seen live? y [:)] n [ ]
Other: Too awesome for words. This band also describes my mental self way too well - perhaps a bit weird, kind of bombastic in times, and the themes! "World events, the end of the world, hyperspace, technology, religion, among other subjects." A very special band for me, but it hurts to call something as an absolute favorite.
Pariisin kevät
☆☆☆☆
First song heard: Toisesta maailmasta
Important/Favorite song: Pyykkipäivä, Alkemisti, Meteoriitti
Seen live? y [ ] n [:(]
Other: For first I hated this band because of their annoyingly artsy name, but then a friend borrowed me their cd... wow. They mix music styles so well and many of the lyrics hit me personally. I had to change my opinion. :(
Pink Floyd
☆☆☆☆☆
First song heard: Hey You
Important/Favorite song: album
Atom Heart Mother
Seen live? y [ ] n [:(]
Other: Alan's Psychedelic Breakfast. I don't know what to say. It's Pink Floyd. Very special again.
Placebo
☆☆☆
First song heard: The Crawl
Important/Favorite song: Black Eyed, Haemoglobin
Seen live? y [:)] n [ ]
Other: I'm so pretentious, yes it's true. My favorite albums are Black Market Music and Sleeping With Ghosts.
PMMP
☆☆☆
First song heard: Rusketusraidat
Important/Favorite song: Leskiäidin tyttäret, Matoja, OIkaa yksin ja juoskaa karkuun
Seen live? y [:)] n [ ]
Other: A great Finnish girl duo. I wait for their new material, I've listened the old so through.
Risto
☆☆☆☆
First song heard: Auringon prinsessa
Important/Favorite song: Auringon prinsessa, Rukous, Hessu kostaa
Seen live? y [:)] n [ ]
Other: Things turned to be interesting when I got an antenna to my head and started seeing things from the times before I was born.
System of a Down
☆☆
First song heard: ???
Important/Favorite song: Aerials
Seen live? y [ ] n [:(]
Other: The nostalgy. :D
Tohtori Orff & Herra Dalcroze
☆☆☆
First song heard: Äl
Important/Favorite song: Viulunsoittaja
Seen live? y [:)] n [ ]
Other: Was my favorite band when I was six years old. But seriously, their music isn't that annoying
shit poor kids usually have to listen, but some incredibly creative and smart material. I'm so grateful to my parents.
Yasushi Ishii
☆☆☆☆
First song heard: Cool, World Without Logos
Important/Favorite song: When Going to War, Fight with Arrows, Spears, and Swords
Seen live? y [ ] n [:(]
Other: The first Hellsing anime was'nt ... too great and. I don't enjoy watching any other animes either nowadays, but there are sometimes awesome composers behind the soundtracks. Ishii is my personal favorite, his style is so wicked, sick, ruthless, and he mixes genres fearlessly.
Other composers whose work I enjoy to listen are for instance Yoko Kanno, Susumu Hirasawa and Nobuo Uematsu.
YUP
☆☆☆☆
First song heard: ???
Important/Favorite song: Nyrkkeilijä, Ihmisoikeuksien julistus
Seen live? y [:)] n [ ]
Other: The old material is some very ambitious progressive rock with wonderful lyrics. I like it when songs are provocating. I also dig Jarkko's raspy voice.
Zen Café
☆☆
First song heard: Piha ilman sadettajaa
Important/Favorite song: Eipä tiennyt tyttö
Seen live? y [:)] n [ ]
Other: Excellent angst, anger, self-pity music to be listened when walking the streets of filthy Helsinki.
